Uber to begin services on the Costa del Sol

Digital taxi service Uber has announced its imminent arrival to the Costa del Sol in time for the summer season.

The location based app allows users to hire on-demand private drivers from any smartphone and is currently operating in over 60 countries and 400 cities worldwide. The announcement to expand to the Costa del Sol is a natural progression for the company, being one of the most active tourist destinations in the world with over 12 million arrivals per year.

Following a few legal hurdles in Madrid and Barcelona, Uber will establish itself on the Costa del Sol as UberX, with professional drivers, fixed prices, and official licenses to match existing taxi services in the region.

Uber services are expected to begin shortly and will continue once the summer season ends. The company have released a statement saying they are fully committed to all of the cities in which they operate and plan to establish itself long-term.
