Costa del Sol's Tivoli World to get €300 million makeover

Tivoli World, one of the most iconic amusement parks in Southern Spain located in Benalmadena is set to receive a €300 million upgrade. Madrid-based firm Tremon plans to completely modernize the treasured local amusement park while also adjoining a neighbouring piece of land to develop an additional commercial and leisure centre.

The complex will cover more than 152,000 square metres on the east side of the park and include new surrounding gardens, hypermarkets, a cinema, concert hall, office blocks, hotel and a 2,000-space car park.

The amusement park itself will offer an additional 43 new state of the art attractions, including a mini Formula 1 circuit, an Everest expedition attraction and an area for extreme stunts demonstrations.

Planning permission fees and taxes for the makeover and complex development will result in a significant cash injection for Benalmadena's town hall - while the creation of jobs (1,600 for construction and 3,300 additional positions post-completion) is set to provide the area of Arroyo with a significant boost in tourist figures and an economic revival over the coming years.

The project is expected to be completed over the next two years.
