The Costa del Sol’s Top 5 Street Markets

The Costa del Sol is home to a variety of charming and quirky street markets. Dotted along the coast and nestled in local villages or larger touristic areas, there are several options for markets focused on a variety of offerings. Ranging from fruit and vegetable markets to fleas selling handmade Spanish ceramics and linens, to moroccan jewellery and handcrafts — there are plenty of gems to explore locally.

Frequented by locals and tourists alike, many markets and fleas are weekly or held seasonally. Here is a selection of our favourites:

1. Marbella's Monday Street Market

Hosted weekly in Marbella city's eastern edge, vendors sprawl over 350+ stalls selling fruit, vegetables, clothing, toys and locally-made arts and crafts, often at a cheaper price than neighbouring street markets. The market also offers a large make-shift food and drink stand for a break in between or after bargain-hunting.

2. Marbella Artisan Market

Every Sunday between 12-6pm the Puerto Deportivo hosts a quirky arts and crafts market offering a range of hand-made items including jewellery, antiques and ceramics. Just a 5-minute stroll form Marbella's charming old town, this is a definite stop around the city's yacht-lined port.

3. Nueva Andalusia Artisan Market

On Saturday mornings, Puerto Banus hosts one of the largest flea markets on Malaga's coastline near the towns bullring. Offering products ranging from antiques to crafts, clothing and spices - think golf clubs to mirrors, paintings and pianos - the Nueva Andalucia artisan market is a happily chaotic destination with a variety of charismatic vendors and bartering locals.

4. Ecological Market

On the first Saturday of every month between 10am and 2pm, Marbella's Alameda Park hosts an ecological market, with stalls selling locally sourced, environmentally friendly produce at competitive prices. Just a 5-minute walk from the beach, the Alameda Park is a beautiful green space to browse on a Saturday morning before other local adventures to be found nearby.

5. Fuengirola Market

The local market held at Fuengirola's fair ground in the town centre is held every Tuesday and Saturday morning between 9 and 2pm and is one of the Coast's biggest and most varied markets. Hosting both local and international vendors, the market is a quirky mish-mash of stands selling fruits, vegetables, clothing, books, furniture and knock-off designer accessories.
