Costa del Sol to benefit from new 125m euro property development in La Cala

A 600-property development in La Cala de Mijas backed by British developer Taylor Wimpey PLC and La Cala Golf is due to be completed over the next few months. Development on the project began in 2014 when the hotel chain began working in collaboration with Taylor Wimpey Plc, delivering the first set of 60 residential properties last summer.

The existing golf course will be the largest new housing development in Andalucia over the next 10 years.

The La Cala Golf project consists of 48 apartments and 55 townhouses, many of which are in the final stages of construction and due to be completed this year and next. The properties will offer modern, contemporary design and state-of-the-art fittings, including modern kitchens, marble flooring and panoramic views of the Mediterranean and surrounding area. Due to their popular location, stunning views and exceptional quality fittings, the units enjoy a high demand, although some remaining units are still available to be purchased.

La Cala Resort is a go-to place for golf and relaxation, featuring three 18-hole golf courses, a four-star hotel of 107 rooms, a 1,300-meter spa, tennis courts, paddle tennis and football pitch. The resort said in a statement that their establishment will put owners “at the forefront of international residential tourism, with one of the best and most varied offer of housing in a low density complex with Panoramic views of the golf course, Mediterranean and mountains, and only 30 minutes from Malaga airport."

David Kelly, president of FBD Hotels and Resorts said the new development not only demonstrates a growing demand for properties in the South of Spain, but shows the “renewed confidence” in the real estate market, which has now shifted its focus towards offering modern, and state-of-the art homes for a growing second-home community.

Andres Ruiz, a Mijas Councillor adds to the optimistic sentiment surrounding the completion of the new project, in his statement that confirms a significant increase in urban investments in the municipality, with 84 million euros worth of investments so far.
