Brand new gastro-market opens on the Costa del Sol

Last week, the beach-side town of Estepona on the Costa del Sol welcomed the opening of a new gourmet gastro-market.

The Mercado Gourmet de San Luis ,’El Mercado del Sol’ is located just a few steps away from the beach and promises to become the centre of Andalucian and international gastronomy on the Costa del Sol.

Housed in the town’s former market hall, the gastro-market consists of three allocated bars for wine, beer and cocktails, surrounded by a selection of hand-picked local vendors offering a variety of up-market gastronomic delights, including oysters, the finest Jamón Iberico and Spanish cheeses as well as Japanese cuisine.

Foodies and visitors are invited to browse the stands and sample as many small or large bites as they like, and hang out on the spacious terrace on Villa Street, which includes a special allocated ‘chill-out’ zone.

The gourmet emporium is the result of a €1.6 million investment consisting of a total refurbishment of the existing venue and is expected to create around 75 new jobs.
